Just not good.I wouldn't recommend your product over others until you figure out how to adequately solve my problem.Buckle up your back brace and fire up the delivery truck, it's time to deliver! Join up to four friends to play in this ragdoll physics simulation about terrible package delivery couriers. This week I have a couple of mid-week runs and a long run that I really need those gels for but have no hope they'll arrive at this point.Ģ.) manufacture and distribute to more than just a couple of storesģ.) don't commit to supplying the Boston Marathon unless you know you can manufacture and distribute enough of the gels for the race day, AND ALSO (equally important) the months leading up to the race so athletes can use your products and get used to themĤ.) improve your customer service team so their responses are not so automated, and then actually seek to help solve the problemĥ.) offer me a refund and ship more product as a gesture and apology for the disbelief you created that I fell for and was inconvenienced by I waited until the day before figuring maybe they'll show up that night, but nothing. I was relying on those gels arriving last week before my weekly long run. I wouldn't be upset if I wasn't running the Boston Marathon this year and training harder than I ever have. It's now been 7! And, when I emailed customer services the only answer I got was that you messed up the shipping. I ordered a pack of the gels and was expecting it to arrive in 3-5 business days. So far the company and the service has been terrible. In conclusion, I am satisfied with the performance of Gel 100 and drink mix 160, and the fuelling plan laid out by Maurten has been helpful to me in achieving my objective. I was low on the Gel 100, so I ordered a batch on April 28, 2023, and it arrived as promised. I am about to attempt my 3rd marathon on May 28, 2023. My overall goal was to finish without injury/distress, and it remains the same for future races. Although my time was greater than the result in Toronto, it can be explained by variables like wind and course conditions. I was able to achieve a comfortable finish with no issues similar to the one I experienced during the Toronto marathon finish. I also followed the Maurten marathon plan regarding pre-hydrating with 160 drink, using the 160 drink during the race, and a Gel 100 at every 6 km. Again, I made the mistake of ignoring electrolyte balance, thinking that the gels and water would take care of every thing.įor my second marathon attempt in October 2022, I did my homework and incorporated the Maurten 160 drink mix into my training plan, and used it on race day. I was fortunate to have a friend who ran beside me and helped me during the last 7 km with electrolyte drink. I got this gel and two others which I tried in my practice runs prior to the Toronto Marathon, which I successfully completed at the age of 78. In November 2021, I became aware of the use of Gels for in-race fueling, in particular the Maurten Gel 100. Although I trained hard without any coaching, I ignored the importance of proper weather attire for cold weather, and the in-race nutrition. In 2019 I tried my first marathon, which resulted in a DNF at 24 km. Completing a full marathon was then placed on my bucket list. I slowly worked myself from 10km races to the half-marathon. I lived in East Africa for 6 years as a student, and in Nairobi (1963-66) I saw the emergence of great Kenyan runners like Kip Keino. Prior to that I was active as an avid singles tennis player (and a fan of Bjorn Borg and Roger Federer). I took on long distance running/walking after retiring at the age of 64 in 2008.
